Description
Giovanni Antonini leads Il Giardino Armonico in a programme centred on Joseph Haydn, combining three symphonies with works by Gregor Joseph Werner and Gioachino Rossini. The concert forms part of the long-term Haydn2032 project, directed by Antonini, which aims to record and perform all of Haydn’s symphonies by the 300th anniversary of the composer’s birth in 2032. The project brings together Il Giardino Armonico and the Basel Chamber Orchestra in historically informed performances, presenting Haydn’s music in thematic programmes that highlight its wit, originality and forward-looking character.
